Paris to Hollywood - New Subscription Box!
Hi JFL Fans!
Thank you for stopping by and if you have been here any amount of time, you know that it has been a fun year for our shop. We went from a small and scrappy startup in the middle of a global pandemic in April 2020, to a thriving little journal and travel notebook online boutique.
One of our goals this year, was to launch a unique travel notebook subscription box by end of 2021. Well, we are here to do just that! But first, we wanted to share a little bit about the inspiration behind our new unique travel notebook kits.
In July 2021, I was traveling with my family in Colorado. We were in Denver for a couple days and visited the Denver Art Museum. So many wonderful exhibits and I enjoyed my time there thoroughly. A particular collection and person stood out to me amongst the museum exhibits. I had already started culminating an idea in my mind of how I wanted to offer subscription kits, but I was truly inspired by the words and life of Veronique Peck in the Paris to Hollywood exhibit. You can find more information here. Scroll through the amazing outfits and collections Veronique collected over the years.
Veronique and Gregory met in Paris when Gregory was filming Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn in 1952. Veronique was a journalist and blew off an interview with a nobel prize winner to have lunch with Gregory. History was made in that moment, they fell in love and Veronique became a fashion icon in Hollywood. But, not only was Veronique a fashion icon, she was a documenter and archivist. She saved pieces and bits from her travels to journal and archive. Also, the sole reason this fashion collection exists in this exhibit is because it was well archived and documented by her.
Veronique had a unique sense of style. She met Yves Saint Laurent early in his career and loved his designs because they exemplified a woman's self expression. My favorite line in the below exhibit is "The designer's recurring themes of "imaginary travels" are well represented in her [Veronique Peck] wardrobe, with garments inspired by India, Russia, Spain and China. Isn't that a lovely idea?
While we have lived through a global pandemic and travel has not been much of an option for most, this line resonated with me. I wanted to create a kit where we are not limited to our geographic areas, but enjoy designs and styles from across the globe. Where we celebrate the uniqueness of all women. With this in mind, in 2022, I am sourcing design inspiration from across the globe and want to bring it to your home through a new travel notebook journal subscription box. Our boxes will offer items that you can document and journal your everyday lives, but also have unique styles, designs and elements for your real and imaginary travels.
Below are the design inspirations for the first three kits. Avocado Toast (January), Midnight Blush (February) and San Fran (March).
More information will be coming soon plus a sign up page for you to sign up for your subscription box. In the beginning, we will have a limited number of kits. But, as the year rolls on, we will open more subscriptions. Early subscribers will receive a nice gift for being our inaugural travel notebook subscribers.
